Training guide
Learn the Temple Giving app
This guide walks through every part of the app — how members give, how officers keep the books, and how national keyholders run reports. Work top to bottom, or jump to a section.
Giving online
The home page is open to everyone — no sign-in needed to give.
- 1
Pick a fund
Choose one of the twelve categories — public collection, monthly dues, per capita tax, building fund, and so on. Each card explains what the fund supports.
- 2
Choose an amount
Tap a preset amount or type your own. Switch between One-time and Monthly — monthly gifts renew automatically until the donor cancels.
- 3
Enter name and email
The donor's name and email are required so a receipt can be emailed and the gift can be recorded.
- 4
Pay securely
The payment box appears on the page. Enter card details and confirm. The donor is then sent to a thank-you page with a receipt number, and a receipt is emailed.
Paying dues as a member
When a member picks Monthly Dues or Per Capita Tax, the app can match them to the national registry so the payment lands in their dues book automatically.
- 1
Choose Monthly Dues or Per Capita Tax
An extra step appears asking the member to find their name in the registry.
- 2
Search for your name
Type a few letters and pick your name from the list. Only names and temples are shown — nothing private.
- 3
Pay as normal
Dues are $5.50 per month; per capita tax is $5.50 per month per liable member. A matched dues payment posts straight into the Temple Book and marks the member current. Per capita tax adds to the temple's per-capita total automatically.
- 4
If your name is not found
The payment is still accepted. It is held as an unassigned credit, and an officer can assign it to the right member later from the Temple Book page.
QR codes — Scan to Give
The QR page makes printable codes members can scan with a phone camera to jump straight into giving.
- 1
Open Scan to Give
From the menu, choose Scan to Give. The main code opens the giving page with all categories.
- 2
Pick a specific fund
Use the category selector to generate a code that opens the giving page already set to that fund — handy for a building-fund drive or a special collection.
- 3
Download or print
Download the code as an image for bulletins and flyers, or print the page directly. Each printout shows the fund name so codes don't get mixed up.
- 4
Members scan and give
Point the phone camera at the code, tap the link, choose an amount, and pay — under a minute.
My Giving — donor portal
Donors who sign in can see their full history and manage monthly pledges.
- 1
Sign in
Use the Sign in button. New donors create an account with their email; use the same email you gave with so past gifts appear.
- 2
View history and receipts
My Giving lists every gift with date, fund, amount, and receipt number.
- 3
Manage monthly pledges
Active monthly pledges can be changed or cancelled from this page. Renewal receipts are emailed automatically each month.
Records access & roles
Everything under Temple Records is private. Access is granted by the Grand Sheik from the Access page — there is no self sign-up for records.
- 1
Role levels
Grand Sheik (owner) sees and controls everything. Treasurer and Secretary are national keyholders — they see all temples. A temple head sees only their own temple's book.
- 2
Grant access (Grand Sheik only)
Open Records → Access, enter the person's email, choose their role, and for a temple head pick their temple. They must have signed in at least once so their account exists.
- 3
Revoke access
From the same Access page, remove a role at any time. The person immediately loses entry to the records area.
- 4
Sign in to records
Once granted, sign in and open Temple Records from the menu. Anyone without access sees a plain not-found page — the records stay invisible.
Overview
The records home page gives a quick pulse of the registry and dues.
- 1
Read the totals
Cards show member counts by status, dues collected for the current book year, per-capita totals, and recent payments.
- 2
Navigate
Use the side menu to move between Temple Book, Registry, Cash, Reports, Giving, Import, Access, and Settings. What you see depends on your role.
Temple Book — the dues ledger
The heart of the system: a month-by-month dues grid for each temple, running October through September. Dues are $5.50 per member per month.
- 1
Pick temple and book year
National keyholders can switch temples; temple heads see their own. Use the year selector to move between book years (October–September).
- 2
Record a payment
Click a member's month cell, enter the amount ($5.50 is pre-filled but any amount works), choose cash or online, and save. The member's status updates to current automatically.
- 3
Add a member
Use the add-member form at the top of the book. New members start as active for the current book year.
- 4
Update member status
Mark members active, moved, deceased, or withdrawn. Records are never deleted — merged or inactive members stay in history.
- 5
Assign unassigned credits
Online dues or per-capita payments that couldn't be matched to a name appear here. Assign each to the right member and it posts to their ledger.
- 6
Export the Registration Return
Download the four-part CSV (roster, dues, per capita, totals) for submission or your files.
Registry — national member list
The national keyholders' view of every member of every temple.
- 1
Search and filter
Search by name, or filter by temple, status, or phone. Click a member to open their detail drawer with two years of payment history.
- 2
Reactivation list
Members who fell behind are listed for outreach — a ready-made call list.
- 3
Exclusions
Exclusion records are visible only to the Grand Sheik and Secretary.
- 4
Export
Download the filtered list as CSV at any time.
Cash counting
Count and record cash received at the temple so it becomes part of the official report.
- 1
Start a count
Open Records → Cash. Pick the date and the offering (fund) the money belongs to.
- 2
Count by denomination
Enter how many of each bill and coin — $100s, $20s, quarters, and so on. The total adds up as you type. If you already know the total, you can type it directly instead.
- 3
Record counter and witness
Enter who counted and who witnessed. Two sets of eyes on every count keeps the books clean.
- 4
Save — corrections, never deletions
Saved entries appear on the temple report under Cash received at the temple, and in the national roll-up. Entries can be corrected but never deleted, so the record stays intact.
Reports
Per-temple Dues and Per Capita Tax reports plus the national roll-up.
- 1
Build a temple report
Choose the temple and book year. The report shows dues collected, cash received at the temple, per-capita due (monthly rate × liable members × 12), per-capita paid, and the balance.
- 2
Certification lines
The printed report carries the Supreme Grand Treasurer and Secretary names set on the Settings page, ready for signature.
- 3
Print or export
Print a clean copy for the mail, or download the CSV for a spreadsheet.
- 4
National roll-up
National keyholders see every temple side by side — dues, cash received, per-capita, and balances in one table.
Import
Bring existing books into the system instead of retyping them.
- 1
Prepare the CSV
Paste member rows and payment rows from a spreadsheet. The page shows the exact column format expected.
- 2
Review the results
After import, any names that couldn't be matched are listed so you can fix spelling or add the member, then re-import just those rows.
Settings
Organization-wide values, editable by the Grand Sheik, Treasurer, or Secretary.
- 1
Per-capita rate
Set the monthly per-capita tax rate (currently $5.50). Reports use this rate to compute each temple's annual per-capita due.
- 2
Officer names
Enter the Supreme Grand Treasurer and Supreme Grand Secretary names. They print on the certification lines of every temple report.
Ready to begin?
Members start at the giving page. Officers sign in and open Temple Records.
